Our Story
BUILT BY FAMILIES. DRIVEN BY OPPORTUNITY.
Competitive Taekwondo demands commitment. Early mornings, long training sessions, weekends on the road, and countless hours spent preparing for a few minutes on the competition mat.
For athletes and their families, that dedication comes with a price.
Tournament registration, travel, lodging, and equipment expenses add up quickly. And as athletes advance to higher levels of competition, those costs often grow.
Taekwondo Athletes United (TAU) was born from a simple belief: An athlete's opportunities shouldn't be limited by their family's financial circumstances.
Founded by Taekwondo parents who understand the commitment behind competitive athletics, TAU is building a community of families, businesses, and supporters dedicated to helping amateur athletes pursue opportunities they've worked hard to earn.
Independence & Fairness
one mission. every athlete.
Great athletes come from different schools, different backgrounds, and different communities. Their opportunities shouldn't depend on which uniform they wear or where they train.
Taekwondo Athletes United is designed to operate as an independent, parent-led nonprofit organization, governed by its own volunteer Board of Directors.
TAU's mission is bigger than any single martial arts school or competition team.
Our goal is to establish a fair, consistent athlete assistance program that evaluates requests using board-approved eligibility criteria, documented competition needs, and available resources.
Because the opportunity to compete should be determined by dedication and eligibility—not school affiliation.
our commitment
BUILT ON TRUST. GUIDED BY PURPOSE.
When families, businesses, and community members support TAU, they're placing their trust in our mission. We take that responsibility seriously. Our organization is being built around three guiding principles designed to ensure that athlete assistance is fair, responsible, and focused on creating meaningful competitive opportunities.
1. FAIRNESS
Athlete assistance will be guided by consistent eligibility standards, without preference for any particular martial arts school or competition team.
2. ACCOUNTABILITY
An independent volunteer Board of Directors will oversee organizational decisions, financial stewardship, and the distribution of assistance.
3. OPPORTUNITY
Our resources will be directed toward our charitable mission: helping eligible amateur Taekwondo athletes overcome financial barriers to competition.
stronger together
IT TAKES A COMMUNITY TO BUILD A CHAMPION.
No athlete reaches the competition mat alone.
Behind every competitor are parents making sacrifices, coaches investing countless hours, teammates pushing each other to improve, and supporters who believe in what these athletes can achieve.
Taekwondo Athletes United brings that community together.
Through business sponsorships, charitable contributions, and community fundraising, we're working to build a support system that helps competitive athletes pursue opportunities at the regional, national, and potentially international levels.
Because when a community stands behind its athletes, the possibilities grow far beyond the competition mat.
