ATHLETE ASSISTANCE

THE COST OF COMPETING SHOULDN'T END THE JOURNEY.

The road to competitive success takes athletes far beyond their home training mats. Regional qualifiers, national championships, and other major tournaments create incredible opportunities—but they also bring significant expenses.

Taekwondo Athletes United is working to reduce those financial barriers by providing assistance toward eligible competition-related costs.

Assistance may include:

  • Tournament Registration — Entry fees for qualifying competitive events.
  • Travel Expenses — Transportation costs associated with attending approved competitions.
  • Lodging — Hotel accommodations necessary for tournament participation.
  • Other Eligible Expenses — Additional competition-related costs authorized under TAU's assistance policy.

All assistance is subject to eligibility, available funding, and approval by TAU's independent Board of Directors.

ELIGIBILITY

DEDICATED ATHLETES. REAL OPPORTUNITIES.

Every competitive athlete has a different journey. Some are working toward their first regional championship. Others have earned opportunities to compete on the national stage.

TAU's goal is to help eligible amateur Taekwondo athletes pursue meaningful competitive opportunities when financial barriers might otherwise stand in their way.

Athlete assistance will be evaluated using factors such as:

  • Competitive Participation — Active involvement in amateur Taekwondo competition.
  • Competition Opportunity — A documented upcoming tournament or qualifying event.
  • Financial Need — The financial circumstances and competition-related expenses associated with the request.
  • Commitment to Competition — Demonstrated dedication to training and competitive development.
  • Available Funding — The resources TAU has available to provide assistance.
  •

Athletes are not required to train at any particular martial arts school to be considered. All applications will be reviewed according to the eligibility standards adopted by TAU's Board of Directors.

QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions.

  • Who is eligible to apply?

TAU intends to support eligible amateur Taekwondo athletes pursuing competitive opportunities.  Eligibility will depend on the criteria adopted by TAU's board of directors, including the nature of the competition, documented expenses, and financial need.

  • How long does approval take?

Review times may vary depending on the application, upcoming competition date, and board review schedule. We encourage families to submit their requests as early as possible. TAU cannot guarantee a decision before a particular tournament.

  • What can approved funds be used for?

Approved assistance may help cover tournament registration fees, transportation, lodging, and other eligible expenses directly related to amateur Taekwondo competition. All expenses must comply with TAU's assistance policy and receive board approval.

  • Is there a limit to how much assistance I can receive?

Assistance amounts depend on documented financial need, available funding, and limits established by TAU's Board of Directors. Each request is considered individually, and approval of full or partial funding is not guaranteed.

  • Do I need to reapply for each competition?

Because each competition involves different dates, expenses, and circumstances, athletes should expect to submit updated information for each new assistance request. Specific requirements will follow TAU's adopted assistance policy.

  • Do I have to train at a particular Taekwondo school?

No. Taekwondo Athletes United is an independent, parent-led organization and is not operated by or affiliated with any single martial arts school. Athletes from different schools and competition teams may be considered for assistance under the same eligibility standards. No school receives preferential treatment.
